Submitting Articles, Projects or Press Releases

City Gardening invites people to submit articles and photographs on topics regarding gardening in city environments.

City Gardening accepts unsolicited manuscripts relating to a wide range of topics such as famous or unique gardens located in American cities, city gardeners or city garden groups, practical information on growing specific plants conducive to the city environment, types of gardens conducive to city living, i.e., container gardens, rooftop gardens, windowsill gardens, community gardens, small yard and shady gardens.

An average article may range from 3,000 to 5,000 words in length. Sidebar articles are encouraged as well as color photographs, copyright and trademark free graphics, illustrations, logos and photographs. Those writers whose articles are accepted will be contacted for biographical information, resume, list of sources and a photograph of themselves.

All mailed submissions should be set up in the standard manuscript format such as title, first and last name, address, phone number, rights preferred and approximate word count on title page and every subsequent page fully numbered. Reference material MUST be included with your submission to be considered. (This is information is kept on file by City Gardening.) Writers may submit their work either by postal mail or email. Email articles as an attached .txt file or copied and then pasted into the actual email message to us. Email all inquiries to editor@citygardeningmagazine.com.

Project Guidelines

In each issue of City Gardening we feature an inside and outside gardening project. The purpose of the projects department of the magazine is to provide step-by-step projects to help enhance the skills and enjoyment of gardeners in the city. We invite readers to submit projects with this purpose in mind. When submitting outside projects, the projects should be tailored to the unique needs of city inhabitants. Inside projects should be relatively simple to achieve and should not take up much space to complete. Please submit a brief description of the project, your complete contact information, materials needed, and a photograph of the finalized project. The editor or publisher may then get in contact with you to discuss the prorject.

Please call Truby Chiaviello at 888-324-9943 for discussion of your project. Credit will be given to you and/or other readers at publication of the project.
